This Open Source hardware project tells you how to modify your own Kill-A-Watt to tweet power usage data. You can also buy prebuilt kits from adafruit. They have a Twitter account set up so you can see what the power info tweets look like: @tweetawatt.

We’ve always known this wasteful behavior has a cost associated with it. Now, it has a number assigned to it and it is a big one. Windows users can Hibernate their PC. It works reasonably well on XP and Vista though it is not 100% reliable. However, when it does work, it is faster than rebooting and re-opening applications.
