Joost Beta

This is a bit of stretch given my criteria for mentioning products on this site. But, given the buzz around it and the widening of their beta program in the past week or so, tonight's item is:

Joost Beta

The streaming video client is available for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. I downloaded, installed, and tried both. The video looked pretty good on a 2GHz MacBook with no dedicated graphics card. But, it was jerky with lots of sound drop on an Athlon 3200+ Windows Media Center Edition PC with a dedicated graphics card that has 256MB graphics RAM. Of course, it this could be due to network or server issues. So, more testing is needed. It is pretty interesting video delivery system. I'm not sure I want to watch video on my PC. I suggest having a dual-head video system if you plan to watch Joost or any other kind of streaming video frequently on your desktop or notebook.
