Eachday: Upload and Organize Your Memories

eachday.com
I've been playing with a couple of point-and-shoot cameras and cameraphones lately. So, I got the idea that it might be interesting to take and store at least one photo a day for some period (say a year). The Eachday.com site is one that I am considering.

Like many Web 2.0 services, it has a limited but useful free service as well as a for-fee service with more features. I signed up for Eachday's free service which allows uploading up to 4 items per day. It limits photos to some resolution lower than 640x480 and limits video clips to 1 minutes. The $7.25/month fee service removes some of these limitations though photos are limited to 640x480.

The Java-based drag-and-drop file uploader did not work for me. However, the Flash based browse and pick did. Uploading 2 800K photos seemed to take a lot longer than it should have. But, it worked. I like the idea of being able to upload various kinds of media. But, I can sort of do that using a Tumblr tumblog plus YouTube and not have any limitations. I do, however, like the bit of security granularity Eachday provides. And, the visual organization by date looks good and somewhat unique.

I still haven't decided which service to use for my personal photo-a-day project. But, I'm keeping Eachday in mind.
