Microsoft's Open Source Web Site

Microsoft's main website (Microsoft.com) opened up a web area with the unlikely URL of...

http://www.microsoft.com/opensource

...and, as far as I can tell, this is not a FUD site (and there's no sign of snow in downtown Honolulu either). Combine this with them submitting two of their licensing schemes to the OSI for approval as Open Source licenses, and we have an interesting (and long awaited) situation brewing. I'm very pleased to see a lack of what I call shrillness in this site.

As I mentioned a few months ago, I was able to meet with a number of people at the Microsoft Open Source Labs back in March. I was very impressed by the team there and have been waiting for something like to emege from their efforts. It will be very interesting to see what emerges from this initial foot forward over the next few months.
