The itch being scratched comes from the large number of social (or nearly social) network sites which somewhat locks up data. E.g., how you do you move from Myspace to Facebook or Virb? What do you do with photos scattered across those sites as well as Flickr, Picasa, and the now defunct Yahoo! Photos.
