Buzzword: Web Word Processor
Submitted by todd on Sun, 2007-08-19 21:22
I use Google Docs a lot and I'm always looking for the next web-based untethering app like it. So, I hopped over to...
...to ask for a beta account for the Buzzword web word processor. It uses the new Adobe AIR (formerly Apollo and based on Flex... Is that confusing enough?) technology to give it a client-side feel to it. It certainly looks and feels a lot slicker than the typical AJAX-ified site. However, it doesn't yet seem to have (or I didn't find it) the offline usage capability that Apollo can provide (or Google Gears for that matter).
It is also browser sensitive. It works with Interent Explorer, Firefox, and Safari 2 (but not yet 3) on Windows or Mac OS X. However, it doesn't work with Firefox on a Linux box.
That said, I'm looking forward to playing with it more and watching it gain more features (offline use and sync with be the big feature to look for).
