Andrew: WinSCP is not necessarily a better option than using SFTP (in FileZilla Secure FTP which actually supercedes SCP in that provides a greater range of operations). However, despite its name, WinSCP supports SFTP as well. Both have a very similar user interface (the so-called Norton Commander-like interface). I'm simply started using WinSCP before I learned about FileZilla years ago and got comfortable with it first.
