Hi,
I have 2x 4gb sandisk cruzers (same part number) with the U3 software on them. The first I removed as you did and recovered the 6mb partition (ver 1.2 of u3). However on the second it wont recover the 6mb back. I use the cruzer primarily with XBMC and it does not like that fact that 6mb is missing and not used. I have reinstalled and uninstalled u3 many times. It seems that the old version of the u3 software would allow you to recover the 6mb of space. The new version (1.4-1.6) will not allow for this and thus you get stuck with a drive the is 3.76GB as opposed to 3.82GB like my other one. I have talked to sanddisk and even requested old stock but they will not help me because my drive still works. I need version 1.2 of the u3 software to solve my problem. That is what my old cruzer had on it and that is the only version of u3 that will allow you to recover the 6mb of space through its format. The u3 uninstall does not do it correctly and the 6mb is not recovered. Only version 1.2 allowed you to completely and totally recover all space on your drive.
