OK, this is a first. I decided not to try a freeware because of its EULA. LocalCooling is an interesting sounding freeware Windows utility that claims to make it easier to set power setting for Windows. Windows already has the features it lets you set but Microsoft made it difficult for some people to find and make use of these energy settings. The utility also claims to estimate your PC's wattage use by figuring out what kind of components your PC has. This sounds pretty interesting. This freebie is from Uniblue that has a couple of for-fee utilities like SpeedUpMyPC and Registry Booster (I've never trusted anything that fusses with the Windows registry, btw). So, you would think they have someone on board to check their EULAs. I started feeling uncomfortable because no one on their end had apparently error checked their EULA. Silly reason? Maybe. But, I terminated the installation process before it went any further. If anyone else has tried LocalCooling, please let us know how it worked for you.
