Flickr Integrated Picnik Web Photo Editor

Flickr Integrated with Picnik
If you select one of your own Flickr photos, you'll find a new Edit Photo option next to Delete. Clicking this puts your Flickr photo in Picnik's web photo editor. This combo does a few things that I'm not sure I like. Picnik does not directly edit the original Flickr photo. This is a good thing I think. It places the edited version of a photo into the Flickr photo stream and date stamps it with the current date. I would have preferred if it either placed it next to the original photo (preserve all date stamps) or overlay with the option of retrieving the original photo.

My gut instinct is that the Flickr-Picnic feature combo is best for photos uploaded directly from a cameraphone that need sharpening and color correction. You are better off using a client-side editor if you want to preserve date information. If for-fee editors are out of your price range, take a look at the free Paint.net for Windows and Seashore for Mac OS X.
