Wik.is: Free Wiki Service from the Creators of Deki Wiki

Wik.is is a free personal Wiki service from Mindtouch, the creators of the Open Source Deki Wiki product. It was closed to new users the last time I took a look at it. So, I was glad to see it available for new sign-ups this evening. I created a new wiki there to test it out: macsandstuff.wik.is. The screen cap above shows the WYSIWIG editor available to create and edit Wiki pages. This is a great feature for people unfamiliar and/or uncomfortable with the structured text type environment used by other popular Wiki generation software such as Mediawiki (the engine underlying Wikipedia and many other industrial strength Wikis on the web).

I'm thinking about using this wik.is Wiki as part of launching a new Mac-focused site (coming soon I hope). This will leave my older TO-Tech site focused on Microsoft Windows and Linux.
