Google Hates This Site Again

Generally speaking, this site has a small but steadily growing number of people who visit. If you believe sites like Compete.com (and I'm not sure I do), unique vistors are up about 700% over the past 12 months. I'm guessing this means that 14 people visited compared to 2 last year :-)
Most of the traffic here comes from Google's search engine. That is probably true for a lot of tiny web sites like this one. But, as I've mentioned here before, every now and then, Google decides it doesn't like OgasaWalrus.com and banishes it from everyone's site. This happens about once every 60 days or so. I have a couple of other blogs/websites that never experiences this. It is unique to this site. As you can see from the graph above, Google is disappearing this site again. It will probably be another week or so before Google decides this site it "worthy" again. Sigh.

Well. This is a sure sign
Well. This is a sure sign (because stats = truth) that your content is slipping. It's quite obvious by the chart that Google is weening itself off of your site do to your not fitting 'the mold' anymore. It's the opposite of being assimilated. It's more like a big Google upchuck. A Googchuck. You should be thankful.
Geakz: I can't tell if you
Geakz: I can't tell if you are being serious or humorous/sarcastic. But, honestly, I considered your theory myself. I assumed something was wrong with my site's content. So, I amped up the number of posts per week (from 4 or 5 to 7) and tried to write longer more detailed blog posts. And, yep, Google lets searchers find me again. But, the next time it happened, I didn't have the time to write more. So, I left it alone. Guess what? Google searchers started finding it again anyway a few days later. I've repeated each response type (amp-up or not) since then and concluded that the number of posts per week and the length of each post doesn't make a difference. This site simply drops off the Google radar for anywhere from 5 to 10 days and then reappears with no apparent (to me) reason.

Hey Big O,
I was totally being tongue and cheek with my comment. You just haven't gotten used to that yet. Your site proudly sits in my Google RSS feed reader and I always look forward to your posts - even if Google doesn't (look! I'm being serious)

Geakz: Hey, no offense taken even when I first read your comment. I was and am totally serious about having considered something was "wrong" (from the Imperial Google point of view) with this site. Following you on Twitter now, btw (I'm toddogasawara over there.
I seldom actually visit your
I seldom actually visit your site, but I read your feed via Google reader. Does that register in your traffic measurements?
I can see some RSS stats in
I can see some RSS stats in Feedburner. Not sure how that ties into traffic info from, say, Google Analytics. And, I want to say that I am NOT suggesting people switch from reading the RSS feed here. It would be brutal to suggest people manually checks dozens or hundreds of websites each day :-). I sure would like to know why this blog out of the several I maintain is subject to this Google fading periodicity though.
