Microsoft Shutting Down MSN Groups But Provides Two Migration Paths
Microsoft is shutting down MSN Groups on Feb. 21, 2009. However, unlike Google's somewhat abrupt shutdown of JotSpot Family Sites, Microsoft is giving us a lot of lead time. And, while Google provides no migration tools for JotSpot Family Site users, Microsoft is providing two migration paths for MSN Groups users.
So, a big thanks to Microsoft for not only providing the MSN Groups service for free for many years (I've been using it since 2001), but also for giving your users (me) a lot of time to prepare and for providing two migration paths.

What are the two migration
What are the two migration paths, Todd? I have only seen one ie migration to Multiply.
By the way, we at http://onlinegroups.net are also inviting MSN Group managers to consider one of our online groups sites as a destination for migrating MSN Groups.

Our service is based on the open source collaboration platform GroupServer.

Are you in an MSN Group? Take
Are you in an MSN Group? Take a look at Cagora!
If you're currently in an MSN Group, you will shortly
be looking for another Home if you're not already in
the process.
We at Cagora extend our hands in friendship and ask
that you consider us as a new Home for your group to
settle. The community's at Cagora are a little different
than the way things are set up at MSN Groups in that
there is only one community per topic.
We have over 15,000 Special Interest Community's
for you to choose from. Some of the 15,000 Special
Interest Communities have not been published yet
so you may want to recommend one for your group.
Each Community has Forums, Blogs, Reviews, Articles,
Polls, Videos, Photos. We also have Voice and Text Chat
web conference rooms where seminars with powerpoint
presentations can be recorded. These are being made
available to MSN Groups at no charge for up to one
meeting per week. It's a great way to better connect
with your community, and you can bring your group
together and interact in real time.
Your Group will attract a large group of people who
will be interested in their passions, and yours. We are
unique to Web2.0 and the Social Networking Sites,
and go beyond them. We are truly a one stop network.
You can Join For FREE, and enjoy all of the benefits of
the Cagora program. Please Note that the communities
are Free To Join and Free To Participate With.

Dan: The choices are to migrate the MSN Groups data to a service named Multiply or to start again in the upcoming Windows Live Groups. So, I guess there is only one true migration option.

I've also heard some other groups are migrating their groups over to BlastGroups (http://www.blastgroups.com)
It's a free way to create your own group website. They don't have a migration tool but it's very easy to create a group site and invite members. Lear more here:
